On Thursday, nine Republicans voted to hold former Trump chief of staff, Steve Bannon, in contempt after Bannon defied a subpoena for Nancy Pelosi’s witch hunt January 6 Committee.
The Republicans who voted for it included, Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming (January 6 committee member), Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, Rep. Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler of Washington, Rep. John Katko of New York, Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois (January 6 committee member), Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina, Rep. Peter Meijer of Michigan, and Rep. Fred Upton of Michigan.
Conservative Brief reports:
After the vote, Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) “This is a joke,” Greene said, referring to the Jan. 6 investigation and the Bannon contempt vote. “Why don’t you investigate something people actually care about?”
Cheney then called Greene “a joke” and said that she should be focusing on Jewish space lasers, a reference to an unproven conspiracy theory Greene allegedly wrote on Facebook years ago blaming “space lasers” controlled by a powerful Jewish family for starting wildfires in California.
“I never said that! You’re done. You’re a joke!” Greene yelled at Cheney, according to CNN. “Why don’t you go investigate something that matters to the American people?”
“Liz Cheney is a liar, and you can quote me on that,” Greene told The Hill. “She’s a liar and she’s only serving her own interests, which is to tear Trump down. She’s a liar. It’s a scam. It’s a witch hunt. It’s a joke committee, and I think it’s a waste of taxpayers’ dollars.”
